Crabs; from Sea to Sandwich
Thursday 8th September – 10.30am-1pm.
If you love crab, but don’t know how to deal with a live one, come and spend a hands-on morning learning how to humanely dispactch, cook and cut a crab, ready to eat, in Mark Lobb’s fish store, overlooking Start Bay.
You’ll be working on your own crab, which you can take home for tea and there will be ideas for using crab and lobster in your cooking.
The price includes a crab, plus tastings.

Think beyond blackberries on this stroll to gather wild fruits from the National Trust hedgerows of Kingswear’s coast.
Managed for wildlife, they are especially abundant in fruits. Learn about the wide range of wild fruits that you can gather and eat, plus some ingenious ways to cook and preserve them with Fiona Campbell (wild food gatherer).
Cooking and tasting session after the walk. 2 miles. Bring a basket. Adults £4, children £2.

Twilight Tour of Greenway House - Discover Greenway in a new light.

Take the chance to see Greenway House after hours, in the September twilight glow.
Enjoy canapés in the House Kitchen followed by a fascinating guided tour of the House by one of our extraordinarily knowledgeable volunteers. Discover the secrets of the Greenway that Agatha Christie knew and loved, and get a feel for yourself of the house she described as 'the loveliest place in the world'.
The experience includes unique travel to and from Greenway from set local points on our character 1950's vintage bus. Timings do not include the bus trip. Please contact the Property Office for further details.

British Cheese Week
We think this is a great week....we love cheese!!!!
This week is all about promoting British Cheese, something we’ve very fond of here at Alf’s. We use totally British & local cheese on our cheese platter & toasties.
This week also coincides with British Food Fortnight, so we will have Sharpham Brie & Sharpham Garlic & Chive Rustic Toasties. Our cheese boards also include Quickes (from Devon) Goats Cheese & Applewood Smoked Cheddar from Somerset.
Especially for this week we will also have the special Sharpham Savour cheese which is a tangy mix of cows & goats milk created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Watch out for the Savour on your cheese platter...double yum!!!
