Centred on the famous All Saints Church which keeps a loving vigil over the busy harbour and fishing port, it is a celebration and colourful display of Brixham's fishing heritage and culture, with nets, fishing gear and unique collection of trawler flags. Art exhibition and sale.

All Saints Church made famous by the Rev Francis Henry Lyte who wrote the emotive hymn 'Abide With Me', is filled with maritime memorabilia, flags of all colours and will resonate to the sound of hymns and possibly sea shanties in the wonderful event.

South Devon Sea Shanty Festival

The South Devon Sea Shanty Festival will be taking place on the 6th and 7th July 2013 in the seaside towns of Dartmouth and Teignmouth.

Sea Shanties are traditional maritime work songs. Enjoy watching the different crews perform these rousing and entertaining songs against the backdrop of beautiful seaside locations.

Visitors to Dartmouth and Teignmouth will be able to enjoy these rousing and entertaining traditional maritime work songs being performed against the backdrop of beautiful seaside locations.

The festival will be taking place on the 6th of July in Dartmouth and the 7th of July in Teignmouth between 11am and 4pm.

In Dartmouth performances will be staged on the Bandstand in Royal Avenue Gardens, at The Royal Castle Hotel and onboard some of the wonderful river cruises run by The Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Company.

Performances in Teignmouth will take place throughout the day at The Triangle, outside The Ship Inn on the back beach, within the Oystercatcher Cafe and the Riviera Cafe Bar on the seafront.

Crews performing at the Festival are Exmouth Shanty Men, Falmouth Shout, Flash Jack, Mariners Away, Stamp & Go, Tavy Tars, The Nauti Buoys and the Wareham Whalers.

The Festival in Dartmouth coincides with the Dartmouth Classics Weekend, which brings together the opening weekend of the Classic Channel Regatta and the Old Gaffers Association Annual Race. The weekend’s sailing will start at 10.30 on the 6th July with a parade of sail of all the competing boats, around 100, out of Dartmouth harbour. Performances from the crews will accompany this visually wonderful parade as it leaves the town.

These engaging performances will be open to all and free to attend and will be taking place in both outdoor and indoor venues.

Come along and see the exciting auctions in action, as featured in the recent Sky Atlantic series 'Fish Town'. You will be guided around by Rick Smith, head of Brixham Trawler Agents, who has decades of experience in the fish trade.

After the tour you will then head to the nearby Fishermen's Mission for a delicious full English breakfast.

Totnes Good Food Market

The Totnes Good Food Market is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 10am to 3pm. Now in it’s third year, the market is the biggest monthly producers & farmers market in the Westcountry.

Regularly attracting over 50 fine food traders each month, the Totnes Good Food Sunday market has become the biggest fine food and drink market in Devon and is rapidly becoming the largest in the South West.

Totnes Good Food Sunday is now officially the best. Food lovers from all over the region voted for the market in the Annual Devon Life Food & Drinks Awards and at a ceremony held at Sandy Park, Exeter the title of ‘Best Farmers Market in Devon’ was awarded to the TGFS.

Launched in June 2010 with just over twenty producers, the market has grown month by month both in reputation and popularity. It attracts food lovers from all over the region, with three-quarters of its traders coming from within a 30 mile radius of Totnes. The market has also been award-nominated and warranted mentions in local and national newspapers and magazines.

Totnes show is over 90 years old and is one of the biggest one day shows in the country. Inaugurated by the local farming and town communities, the show has certainly moved with the times, but one of its aims still is to represent life in the wonderful South Hams. Every year we attract thousands of visitors, young and old and there is something for all of them.

We have exciting demonstrations, displays and parades in the Main Ring. (Awaiting further details).

Amongst a whole host of other things, there’s a Home & Handicrafts marquee, Craft Tent, Food Hall and a large Trade Stands section offering a wide choice of goods and services. So come and join us for a great day out on the last Sunday in July.
